At ZI we are a development agency facilitating the building and empowerment of rural communities through strategic social investment, resource mobilisation as well as lobbying and advocacy. We currently operate in the mining industry to enable, develop and support sustainable economic growth in labour sending areas (LSAs) and rural communities.
Zenzele Itereleng (ZI) is a beneficiary of Lefa La Rona Trust, a product of Anglo Platinum's Alchemy project, a multi-billion-rand broad-based economic empowerment ownership scheme. The project was established to ensure long-term development of communities situated close to its operations and labour sending areas beyond the life span of the mines.
Founded 33 years ago in Soweto, a township of the city of Johannesburg, SNG Grant Thornton has always had embedded in its DNA, the caring of communities and their well-being. We are a proud supporter of Zenzele Itereleng and are privileged to have walked the 7-year journey from inception with them. We have played many roles including NPC administrator, Financial Management provider, Fund Manager, Project Manager, Operations Manager as well as Project Sourcing and Implementation. We have been in a fortunate position to have witnessed the transition of a NPC that stood strong to its purpose and drive which resulted in the immense impact for communities that we see today.
